Boeing was really great! What amazed me was the beauty of the golf course and the weather was outstanding. Nick Price said that if the weather were like it was today the Seattle would sink with all the people that would flock in. I almost had a career tournament the past few weeks, as I’ve lead in birdies and was second in putting this week and top ten last week in New York. The joy is getting in position with the ability to let loose, and see how low I can go. Chris Frame cadies so well, he is very patient, supportive, understanding, and a clear thinker under the gun. I really appreciate all his hard work. We walked every round this week and our legs are getting stronger for sure. Westchester Country Club and TPC Snoqualmie Ridge are really good walks. My legs are tired after a long day on either course. I love the challenge of walking up the long uphill holes, then stepping up and hitting a great shot. Like the 17th hole this week I stuck a 5-iron close after walking from the 16th green which is straight up hill a couple hundred yards. I always say the best part of golf is the walking and I’m so happy that I’m still able to get around on my own two feet.
The most satisfying aspect of the last few weeks is that I’ve been able to finish well on Sunday’s round. At the Senior British Open I was a couple of shots out going into Sunday and had a very bad day shooting 77. I was truly upset and heartbroken over the collapse. I thought I was ready to really play my best. So coming back last Sunday in New York with the lowest round by two shots was a great come back. I was proud of myself for not letting the poor British slow me down too much. Sometimes in the past it was very hard to get over, however, this time I just took it in stride not making too much out of it. This attitude allowed me to come back and I’m glad that I’ve been able to accomplish this because I now have a chance to win and secure a top 30 for the season. This is the first time that I’ve been this far up the money list this late in the season. Therefore, I’m looking forward to a strong finish.
I’m headed home for a couple of weeks, and then it’s off to Korea, which I’m really looking forward to. I’m hopeful to work with Doc Suttie as much as I possibly can. Also, it will be great to watch my son Carl play some matches for his High School. Tomorrow, he’s playing Willow Hill Golf Course and I looking forward to me being there. So for now, I’m headed to the “Red Eye” for an early arrival in Chicago! I look forward to catching up later in the week. Have a great few days. Sincerely,
